About me

Who I am

Coder entusiast, volunteer, vintage fashion lover, collage maker...(I probably should've stopped at coder). I was always a visual type of person. Even my favourite toys were: kaleidoscopes, mosaics and a Rubik's Cube. Because of my love of creativity, I became an actress and a teacher. Moving to London in 2008 changed my life's direction. I became a mother and worked in customer services for a while and volunteered in the local charity shop. With my life flowing quite normally and ordinarily I still felt that I had lost something. It all started with mobile games and with 5-day HTML/CSS challenges. I felt so intrigued, happy and just generally alive, I was yet again creating something. I got my mojo back . I then tried some coding tutorials and signed up for random Ruby, HTML and CSS courses. Then I discovered Codewars and Codacademy, Codeworks and lots of other resources with “code” in it and I realised my inspiring little hobby had become an obsession and that I really want to do it for a living. So I began my journey to become a web developer.

Why F&C

In the search for the best bootcamp for me I found Founders and Coders. The first thing which attracted my attention is the community learning. Living in Essex for 3 years and in Chingford for 10 has taught me a great deal about the power of community. The meetups and workshops at FAC allowed me to learn from others and to help others if I could. It showed me new methods and ways of approaching problems and also made me rethink my study approach. I love working and learning with other people. Another thing is support - It is very important to feel supported, especially if you've just started the journey and are unsure on which steps you need to take. “It's a safe place for learning, remember there are no silly questions!” - our mentors tell us and it’s so encouraging. Suddenly, the challenge is not so big and scary anymore. Also, it's good to know that our mentors were once students in this programme themselves. I really appreciate the idea of “recyclable” learning-teaching. This has been a really valuable experience which has taught me a lot and I'd like to keep learning in this way to become part of the diverse tech industry.
